The severe relationship control seen in this documentary will be familiar to those with dealings with the ANTM. What is interesting in this documentary is not how blindly and coldly the eldership tows the line of the pastor on shunning. We have seen that in numerous groups. Instead, it is fascinating to see, when the new pastor takes over and changes the policy on shunning, how the eldership just as fiercely defends of the new pastor's softening of the shunning policy as they did in defending it's severe implementation under the former pastor. It shows you that at the heart of these groups, the second tier leadership is actually just following a man, not the Lord or the Bible for their cues on behavior. Also, this give hope that things can indeed change.
